My name is. Jami Lee. I have a 14 year old son Mitchell that has pectus excavatum. He is struggling with the decision to have surgery this summer. I am writing to you because we are hoping you can give us some advice. He a 6 ft 2 in very talented baseball player. His favorite position is pitcher. Mitchell feels that "sports are his life."
We have done extensive research on the Nuss surgery. You are the only professional baseball player that we have found to have had this surgery, although we know there may be others others.
Mitchell's greatest concern is that he know what he can do NOW as an athlete... But he doesn't know what he will be able to do or not do after the surgery. He is fearful that the bar will move or he won't have the same motion while pitching of batting. He is really scared because baseball is so important to him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
